Auto-tuning to wrong transmitter?

Bought a Humax for my parents earlier in the year, who live in West Dorset. BBC reception from Stockland Hill transmitter is near perfect, but for some reason ITV and C4 (both MUX2?) auto-tune to a transmitter in Oxford and no signal can be obtained.
Last week I visited them again and I did another auto-tune, and found that ITV and C4 were there as channels 801 & 802, correctly tuned to Stockland Hill channel 28 (along with the rest of the MUX2 stations).
So I tried to tune station 3 manually to channel 28, but the Humax would not save the settings. It kept going back to the Oxford transmitter on channel 58 (or 68, can't remember...)
Any clues from anyone as to (i) why it won't auto-tune to Stockland Hill, and (ii) why I can't manually set it to the correct channel/frequency? Thanks in advance!

You could do selected deleting of the channels you want to remove but I think this is the easiest (and most stable) way.
