Bono
Bono: what kind of over-inflated egotistical fool is he?
So he has a childish tantrum about wanting to sing 'his' line again.
Maybe somebody should remind him what this record is for. The people of these poor countries he is supposed to be helping have probably got more pressing issues to deal with other than moaning over pop songs. He needs to grow up.

Regarding Bono, I feel he is as egotistical and up his own ass as most rock stars .......... but I do love U2
I saw him on that shambles of a show last night on Channel 4, "The Hall of Fame" nonsense and felt sorry that anyone could spout such self-important drivel.
He's worse than Elton John, some achievement!
PS. As for "Band Aid", an honest and sincere entreprise but still a dreadful piece of "music".
The line has been described today as the crux of the entire song and the most emotive part of the song... Justin IMO would certainly have murdered it.
Anyway... does it matter who sings what so long as the song gets made, the CDs get sold and the Charities get the money?
he did? where did you here that?
how are we defining "childish tantrum", and who's definition are we using?
and i could be wrong, but i was under the impression that bono did more than most in promoting the problems in africa, and using his fame to not inconsiderable good use in putting pressure on the politicians to do more about it, eg the very successful drop the debt campaign.
but i guess if the tabloids ran a story about a childish tantrum, it sure brings him down a peg or two, huh?
Iain
I happend to see him up close in the flesh on one lucky day and he really is a great funny guy.
No, I didn't dream up this story from some 'tabloid' rumour.
I'm not using anybody's 'definition of a childish tantrum' either - merely an observational opinion. After all, this is a forum.
I had no idea we were dealing with Bono's publicist and member of Aid International.
And yes, Bono does indeed put his many talents to good use.
I completely agree with you. My opinion is that they wanted to elevate the supposed clash between Bono and Hawkins as part of the PR machine. I did wonder if they were going to release 2 versions - one with Bono singing his line and one with Justin singing it - in order to sell more of the single to raise more money.
Also, Bono with his "I don't feel worthy"...if you don't why bother singing at all?
so did he have a childish tantrum or not?
if its not from a tabloid story, what did make you think that he had?
Iain
As I said, this is what you call: 'having an opinion'.
We've all heard about Band Aid and all have an opinion on it. This was just my take on the situation.
And why are you so caught up on this 'childish tantrum' description?!? This was merely a figure of speech.
it didn't sound like an opinion tho'.
you said he had a childish tantrum to sing his line again, and this was evidence that he was an egotistical fool.
either he had a childish tantrum or he didn't.
maybe you meant to say you "thought" he had a childish tantrum?
i guess i'm just unsure what led you to the conclusion that he even did have a childish tantrum?
Iain
This is a forum - most comments in here are either opinion, or rumour, or just people making conversation about everyday news.
I meant exactly what I said; although having to continually justify the right to an individual opinion on this subject is getting slightly boring, now.
For the record, I am not a fan of Bono.
Posting opinion as fact is the really boring part.
So is listening to people who are ignorant of somebody else's opinion.
i'm not asking you to justify anything.
i'm just wondering what it was that you're basing this "opinion" on?
you may as well say "its my opinion that bono had a cheese sandwich yesterday".
its meaningless.
Iain
In my original post, I may not have necessarily said 'in my opinion...' but neither did I at any point use the word 'fact'.
It was from on the same basis as the majority of other people's comments on here: a general opinion on a subject within the public eye.
most opinions are based on something.
whereas the opinion that bono had a childish tantrum seemed to be based on nothing.
thats all.
it seemed as tho you were saying your opinion was that bono was an over-inflated egotistical fool, based on the apparent "fact" that he'd had a childish tantrum about wanting to sing 'his' line again.
thinking that someone actually did or didn't do something isn't really an opinion i don't think.
and you still haven't answered what it was that created the opinion that he'd had a tantrum? what was it actually based on?
(i'm just curious now)
