MY report on "Sky on your PC"- please Read

Well I thought i'd give it a go. I'd heard the reports about having nothing on, bad quality and crowding.

I wanted to test it for myself. I typed in "Sky On PC" in Ebay UK. Pages of sellers from far and near popped up all selling similar items. "Free Sky Box Office", "Sky Sports" , "DVD quality picture" all the channels you can get on sky digital world pack for a one of fee of a couple of quid!

I ordered a nice looking one for £8. This one also offered all the american channels. Bargain! I knew it was a scam but i wanted to test it for my self.

I waited and waited and the next morning an e-mail arrvied with my link for the package. I eagerly installed the package. Waiting to see how bad it actually was.

It loaded up. It was a proper programme. "TV On Your PC" was the name of the programme. I went straight for the football categorie.

I found a channel broadcasting all british matches with british commentary. Link was down  I then tried a spanish football channel. It started llading but the link crashed. Do you know i tried every link and only found one chinese repeat channel which kept refreshing every second. And then it was fine for a second and then crashed,

I then looked at the other sports section:
First one was down, and the second, third, fourth and then i found one called offroad. 350kbps. It started with a thirty second advert. It then started the live broadcast! :) However it turned out that the thrity second advert was the broadcast! I tried another one which was starting to load when it crashed. I still hadn't watched anything. My £8 started to appear wasted. the whole thing seemed slow, crammed and out of date. Many feeds were full and the quality was low.

I then found an icelandic channel called RUV Iceland. It was showing some highschool netball event. Very low budget! However the stream was quite high at 300kbps. So basically only one sports channel for £8! All of the movie channels were down. They had a porn channel broadcasting at 8kbps! How can you get a kick out of that? It's like a orgasmic pixel screen!

Many of the actual links on the system led to other web on tv stations showing the smae tired links. The ones which didn't show it were closed or replaced by a "Domain Direct" website. I managed to get CNN up. It started loading! 676kbps! Woohoo this sounds promising. 20% loaded, 60%, 80% 99% 100% playing. It then changed to 32kbps. oops. It showed a black screen with chinese writing down the bottom.

The kids channels didn't work either. or the weather channel. I did have success with abu dhabi tv and about two other arabic channels. They were streaming at 56kbps. So was bloomberg and bloomberg usa. That was it.

6 channels. £8. Waste of cash! So if you are thinking of trying it i can reassure you now that from my product testing today. You are definately wasting your money. These e-books range from 0.01p to £20. They are all the same thing! Do not waste your money. If you want to see good quality and variety please use one of the assured links below:

Due to the unprecedented demand on StreamTV (www.streamtvnow.com/board) the mods have had to cut back on the number of free streams. A pay option is available at $3 per month with better connectivity. We are still having some issues, but mostly it's reliable.

Thanks Oliver! You seemed to enjoy being a reporter.

Are you going to give the unscrupulous eBay seller a negative feedback?

Thanks due to Oliver Liddard for saving me £8

I know they are junk, but like you, I still wonder....

It would be nice if more people did this as routine.

The problem with that one is it claims the PPV hacks actually work, so it's almost as bad as the ebay sellers - people still get conned.

It also contains links to a pirate DVD sales operation...

The fact of the matter is - you get what you pay for. If people are stupid enough to fall for this obvious looking shabby scam then I guess they deserve to loose their £8. Still, I think eBay should tighten up.

Using Sky's corporate logos on their website could get them in to a LOT of trouble.

All sounds very dodgy. The "free texts" Word file that is in with the TV on your PC application just goes to show how dodgy some people can be! ;)

Honestly, I didn't need anyone to test any of the scams to find out that's what they are - seriously! there are so many complete morons out there, why not make some money from them? I was thinking of doing one of these myself.
If you are stupid, then these scams will teach you how stupid you are and may help prevent you spending a large amount of money on a bigger scam.
