From the reviews I've read it's neither. Apparently the music is better than the shagging and after a while you start to think 'Just get it over with and get to the next concert'. Think I'll give this one a miss. I'll put a CD in the stereo and a porn DVD in the machine and save myself £7.

I wanted to see it because Franz Ferdinand are in it, but I didn't bother in the end, because I knew nobody would believe that was the reason I wanted to see it!

I went to see 9 Songs with my female friend and my gay mate. We all thought it was just boring and over hyped as the film consist of gigs and shagging. I think it would have just disappeared without a trace if it wasnt for the media hype about the sex scenes!

Echoe your sentiments entirely. The sex isn't there for any artistic expression or reason, but just to make sure this s**t film would get some publicity.

I may have missed the point here, but aren't actors supposed to act? Surely having unsimulated sex isn't acting, it's just doing something you (probably) do anyway but in front of a camera.

Watched the film this morning. The music was good but the film was dire. I don't see what the storm in a teacup was all about. So she wanked him the bath with her feet? So bloody what!

According to the BBFC the sex is exceptionally justifed by its context and other content.

    That must be the music

I suppose they could show this on the Adult channels, and get away with showing hardcore in an 18.

The Idiots was passed uncut as an 18 by the BBFC. Channel 4 showed it and were investigated by Ofcom as a result. The TV Code is a lot stricter than the BBFC. Strangely, the DVD Extras for 9 Songs are rated R18.

Kids shouldn't be watching TV at the times these things are on, and ADULTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE UP THEIR OWN MIND, BUT THAT'S ANOTHER ISSUE. :)

    * caps appeared halfway through, no idea why, and I can't be arsed re-writing it. Ahh bugger, in the time I spent writing this I coulda............

OMG! I literally just added this film to my rental list before coming here! Didn't realise that it was virtually pr0n! I'm always weary of these films, 'cause you sometimes get a corker where it works like 'Irreversiblé', but then there are times where it's just used to cover-up for an appauling movie like 'Baise Moi'.

Yes, I don't understand this bit about the DVD extras; presumably this means that to get the DVD you've got to got to a licensed sex shop. Or is there an 18 DVD without the extras and a seperate Extras R18 DVD? Very odd.

The TV channels are more strict. Derek Jarman's 1975 film Sebastiane is an 18 cert and contains an erection; when Channel 4 show the film, they have to cut that bit out!

I have this film on DVD. I bought this ay Music Zone and you are right the extras are rated 18. The reason is that some of the out-takes etc are too raunchy.
