Comic Relief and other fund raising programs

Is it me being cynical in my old age, or are you like me getting a bit fed up with all these appeals on T.V. etc?
Admittingly, Africa's plight is awful, but after all the millions that has been raised, very little has improved.
Could someone be creaming off the money? Don't get me wrong there are marvelous people working there.
Sir Bob and Bono keep on about help, asking us to give our money, so people who can hardly afford to, do, but do they?

    It's a very emotive subject. People have very strong opinions and get very passionate about it - and rightly so, because it's very difficult and painful. But we shy away from the fact that we raise millions every year and it often ends up in some dictator's car pool as a fleet of Mercedes. That statement alone will raise hackles and probably get me flamed. That's how passionately people feel.
