BBC testing HDTV at 28.5!

The BBC is running a test on Eurobird 1 at 28.5, according to Jay C.

11482 V SR 14469 3/4 1920x1080 Bitrate 2250 kbps

Has anyone managed to tune in on their PCs?
I'm trying to with ProgDVB.
The service has an identity of "SERVICE_1" but I get a blank screen.

Can anyone help?

The BBC have indeed been making sporadic HDTV engineering tests as you suggest (in collaboration with Tandberg).

They have also been broadcasting FTA tests from the Proms in SDTV on 11.498 GHz Vertical SR:10125 FEC:3/4.

It is anticipated that the Last Night of the Proms may be broadcast in HDTV for use in Germany.

Same here - as happens with those forgein channels on Eurobird. Guess it is on same beam.

Signal is fine here, but a bit low.
I think it is encryped. Can anyone confirm?

Don't forget that IBC show is on in Amsterdam, following IFA in Berlin....like last year they may switch off once the show is over....

    Full details:
    11450 MHz
    Symbol rate 14465
    Polarity vertical
    Video PID 308
    PCR PID 8129

Probably Dirac - something BBC R&D are meant to be demoing at the IBC.

Did you build a new filtergraph for this? If so what codecs? I can't get anything using Skyview apart from the Proms broadcast on one of the two frequencies a few days ago  Also do you mean 11450 or 11480? I can't lock onto 11450 but I can to 11480.

    20% signal strength

The 11480Mhz one is blank here too (30% signal)

The 11450 Mark200 posted about I can't find but they are the same parameters as the one I autodetected on 11480

I'm just getting an error from DVB Viewer "B2C2 MPEG2 Audio/Video Ctrl Interface error" Unknown error code  Stupid pointless error messages

The 11480 has been running steady all day.

I'm using DVB Viewer using the elecard MPEG decoder.
Settings direct from my software are:
    Freq 11480
    Symbol rate 14465
    Polarity vertical
    FEC Auto (think its 3/4)
    Video PID 308
    Service PID 5802
    PMT PID 266
    PCR PID 8129
    LNB selection None
    LOF 9750
    DiseqC None

Hope this helps. Today, they have been showing excerpts from films, programmes, tennis, Formula 1. It has got me REALLY excited. I cannot wait until broadcasting starts for real.

I can't get anything from 11480 :( Nothing at all

ProgDVB is just black and DVBViewer just throws that error back which means absolutely nothing to me

Is it encrypted cos that would explain it I think
  • [Deleted User][Deleted User] Posts: 390

    It is not encrypted.
It took me ages to get it. Just keep trying different things.
Copy my settings if you have DVB Viewer.
I've got the paid version of DVB Viewer (if that makes any difference).

I'm using a Skystar 2 PCI card also and DVB Viewer TE (the free edition with the software)

My settings for the channel are here

I'm open to suggestions :( I don't really want to pay for the full version unless its necessary

ProgDVB is hopeless for HD stuff anyway, but totally blank here on that too

    Hi,

Comparing your settings with mine, I have a PCR PID setting which you don't have. PCR PID is 8129.
I don't know if that makes any difference, but apart from that all looks fine.

PS. I'd recommend paying for DVB Viewer. You get free updates for life.
