It's licenced to Teletext according to someone in the EPG Re-shuffle thread

It would be a nice addition, if only to make the EPG look nicer, but where's the space coming from?

Edit: Assuming they find the capacity, this will enable ABC1 to launch in Wales, I presume

What use is S4C to other UK viewers?

It wouldn't make sense for a text service to be on channel 8 after teletext has just moved. Although as 8 is not used in England anyway it could be a deal with teletext that to vacate lcn 9 they get lcn 8 in England and elsewhere they will be at the back of the epg.

Under EU law the government must do all it can to save the Welsh language, so making it national may be a way of doing it.

I to have just got the new epg line up. And I to now have channel 8. I to would like to know what channel 8 is for. Is going to be a tv channel, text channel or an interactive channel.

Or for some resson are those of us that live out side of Scotland (live in England) going to get Tele G at 6pm to 7pm.

I will tune in to channel 8 at 6pm to see if those of us that live out side of Scotland (live in England) get Tele G but I dout we will.

Or Channel 8 could be S4C going natinal to everyone who lives out side wales. If that is the case then I would have expected S4C2 on channel 86 to be going natinal but channel 86 does not apper on my box.

So we will just have to waite and see what channel 8 on Freeview turns out to be in England.

But they can not make you watch it by law.

Its probably just a mistake that the channel is there, every thing is going too smoothly, its bound to happen.

I'm not so sure Channel 8 in England/N.I. is a mistake, because they have managed to keep the BBC Regional Radio LCNs off from the EPG in England.

I know they are on a different Mux, but I'd doubt it is accidental. Then again, I'm probably wrong. :p

More chance of TeleG launching 24-hours nationwide, I fear. It's on multiplex 2, and five are firmly cemented on multiplex A.

Some boxes ignore channels that aren't broadcasting any data. Mind you, in Bristol you're never too far from a TV capable of picking up S4C anyway!!
