Mark,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I've been told
unofficially that UTV should be EPG'd before the end of the year. I've
bounced it off the chief engineer within UTV Plc to see if they are have
an official ETA yet. As soon as I get any info back, I'll be sure to
pass it on.

Carl.

Just received this.

Good news then for us RoI Sky Plussers :)

Just to be sure... are we sure its the Irish EPG, as I do understand that all ITV regions will appear on the UK EPG, once there is space after the reshuffle?

That's the question I asked, yes. I asked them whether UTV would appear on the Irish EPG as the ITV channels are all FTA now. Told them as it stands I cannot record ITV output using my Sky + box.

Feel free to email UTV yourself.....

Is there any chance of reciprocal arrangement to allow the UK viewers to watch RTE & TV3??

Ha. No chance. RTE can't afford the rights to broadcast to the UK - this has been discussed numerous times in other threads (you might do a search for RTE).

If it finds a financial partner it may launch a 'best of Ireland' channel - like it did with Tara TV a few years ago - but don't hold your breath.

Northern Ireland viewers can see them, just the same as we have their BBC's on the EPG

If this is true it's good news, I'll now be able to record Scotsport SPL on a Monday night!

Go to www.kingofsat.net & you can get the frequencies for ALL the satalite stations there.
Just programme them into the sky bos with "services"-"add channels" ect.

Yes but it would be nice to have it on the EPG as well.

The point was that those with Sky+ can't record anything which isn't on the epg. :)

No, because despite acting like it, its not ITV1 Ireland. Only 45% ITV PLC owned, and not a member of the ITV Network

Right. Okay, understood. Obviously it's in TV3s benefit to be FTA so I assume only a matter of time.

    Cheers for the info

The EPG is controlled by Sky. Its up to the broadcasters to pay for a slot....you can't just add channels to it yourself.

Hi i got Sky in on Friday and the guy put UTV etc..into the other channels section for me. I later went on to try get BBC London and all the ITV channels it is great to get them in ROI. The North has been able to get our channels for ages now as part of the peace agreement. You'd think they would do an agreement to cover Britain and Ireland!!!

Tell me I got just the normal digi box if i had got sky + box would I still get all these channels???

i think it's about time the republic of ireland got utv! they should also get channel 4, but i dont think five will ever broadcast outside the uk. anyway, everyone is saying RTÉ should be availible on the mainland UK. why should it! its a station made for IRELAND not GREAT BRITAIN, same with UTV its made for IRELAND. although i would see the sense in a sort of RTÉ Lite channel like what tara tv was. i also think tv3 should broadcast on an all-ireland basis on sky.

Ps. anymore news on the supposed Channel 6?
    :confused::D:)
