MTV Interactive on 28E is also free to air. Picture quality is really dire.

This happened before, did it not? All channels where the CA is controlled by Viacom FTA... I think it did, anyway - only lasted a night or so though.

This is quality see in all the different MTV channels. Hope it lasts :)

I just found out MTV Interactive on 28e is showing MTV Music on 19e. Quite disappointed about MTV Music all it seems to show is American music. VIVA TV is quite good. :D

It's been great so far, hadn't seen all those MTVs in ages.
MTV2 Europe seems a much better channel now than when I used to receive it years ago. Good to see that VH1 Classic now has a separate feed for continental Europe, which seems to be almost advert-free.
MTV European has been quite a disappointment though, what's the point of that enormous DOG ?

'Postman Pat' on Nickelodeon France has become 'Pierre le facteur'.
    I can't wait for Bob l'eponge!!! :)

There isn't an English track on the French Nickelodeon, but there is on the Spanish version.

Does all this mean that MTV, VH1, Viva and Nickelodeon are operated by Viacom?

It's quite sad watching the foreign versions of MTV, seeing that they are still decent, where ours is totaly shit. Even the European version of VH1 is better than ours, playing proper music slots rather than the UK version which is either some themed slot, or the same US pap that airs on MTV. I find it odd that they have the UK MTV channels too (well, bar MTV UK), I wonder what they think when they see the adverts for debtbuster loans, ambulance chasers, the Crazy Frog and other chav ringtones. Can't give them a good impression of our country.

Has gone downhill since 99 I think. (MTV and the UK [what do we expect, nearly most censored country in EU!])
I remember M2 (98) used to be great. Spacious and unpresured.
It was nice to see an Agro Berlin video on VIVA last night..
At least the Europeans still got to see Crazy Frogs nodule.

    Paramount.

But not 100% in the UK, neither is Nickelodeon 100% Viacom in the UK - both part-ownership deals with Sky.

Yeah I had a very pleasant surprise whilst flicking thru last nite, always wanted to see MTV Portugal for some reason!

Oh well, nice while it lasted. Someone mentioned buying an 'MTV card' - where from - any details?

The channel on 28° east, identified as MTV Interactive is called MTV Trax, quite similar to MTV Music.
MTV Trax is available to Sky subscribers, although unofficially.

It's not possible to buy an MTV card, that's only available to satellite and cable operators to distribute this or that MTV channel.

Nickelodeon Europe on HotBird is still FTA.

Does anyone know the schedule for Nickelodeon Europe? There's no EPG or Teletext, and the only listings I can find are in Russian.

It is a little academic now since they have encrypted again but . . . .

    Nickleodeon France (Guide TV)
    www.nickelodeon.fr

Nickleodeon Espana (Nick en la TV)
    www.nickelodeon.es

Not difficult to guess really :D

The German 'Nick' is still FTA
    www.nick.de

No 'Bob esponja' or 'Bob l'eponge' tonight !! :(

MTV Base, MTV Hits UK and MTV2 Europe are distributed all over Europe since 1999 (when there still was M2 and MTV Extra with MTV Dance at night)! And they are exactly the same channels shown on Sky Digital, including adverts.
And Sky doesn't care at all about this, it's an MTV Networks thing, no problem at all, and no secret.

MTV Turkey will be on Turksat, not Arabsat. Turkish is not arabic, it's more european rather than asian.
