Hi everyone, there has been a software update last night.

New details are as follows:

Manufacturer: Thomson
Model Number: 125_132
Operating System: 1.31BOO
EPG Software Version: 4.02d

After testing the software, I cannot see any changes, can any of you lot?

Has any of the other box manufacturers been updated?

Can you spot any bug fixes?

Post it all here!

Tom :)

It allows the Sky Gnome to display and store 4-digit epg numbers.

It couldn't already?!? - but surely it was designed for the radio channels!

Really? Blimey, I thought the whole point of the Gnome was to act like a radio, do you know what, at times I worry about the boffins at Sky Towers.
Will this also help the "please wait" glitch"?

What make of box are you getting this with? As when I had an Amstrad I got this message all the time, and Sky Customer Services said it was a software issue that affected all makes. But when I phoned Customer Care, I was told it wasn't necessarily a software issue... I now have a Thomson, and haven't had the message at all. very strange...

The Gnome could select radio channels but it couldn't store the numbers on the preset because the Sky box was only sending 3 digits back to the Gnome to display. This software update allows it to display the number correctly, and therefore to store the right number.

It's an Amstrad. PVR3. Actually it's my second one, the first one did the "please Wait" thing roughly every, ooh, let me think, 5 minutes.
New box not so bad, but after last software upgrade, did start to do it again, about twice a week.
    Now I'm on 1.31B00 and epg sky+ 4.02d

    BREAKING NEWS
I can't help but wonder if the title of this thread is a cynical critique of the standards of some Sky "upgrades"... :o

pcbbc and coopermanyorks: This is a breaking news matter. How often do software updates happen? Once every few months, and we need to grab the eye of other 'DSers' (if that's a word), to notify them of what has changed. For example with the version 4 thread, that would have caused chaos on DS if no one had told members what to expect in the update.

    Anyway, that explains that ;)

Seriously Tom , I agree its breaking news and I to like to know any amendments or changes to the box or system operations .

I think we were just having a larf at some alternative spellings and the general results of software upgrades on our precious boxes .

Please keep up the good work , and I will try to improve the jokes :D

Usually what I post is either

    1) generally good info
    2) A joke post

And the latter applied to my "Braking " post

Amstrad pvr3 updated this morn. Suprisingly, no reboot required after update. Still getting sound probs though. So no fix for that yet on my box anyway.

Came on here tonight to look for suggestions as to why my Amstrad has suddenly started having problems today with either the fan or hard disk being noisy.

Saw this thread and now checked and can confirm that the software was upgraded to 4.02 - Coincidence? possibly.

What really ticks me off though is that I've only had sky+ for three weeks and already getting annoyed at various problems. It was delivered & installed with epg software 1.3 I think. Forced download to get version 4.00 & had sound dropout problems. Received 4.01 and believe I was the only person for who it corrected the sound problems whether it was meant to or not. Now got version 4.02 and a sky+box that is so noisy I have to turn the tv up!

Love the Sky+ system, but am beginning to wonder if I should ditch it within the 4 weeks I have from installation.
