This match will determine who England will face in the quarter final.

I think this will be the best second round of the 2006 WC because both teams have the potential of doing really well and may reach to penalties

85 mins before kick off.

Come on the dutch

Grr... I wanted to start this thread hehe.

Portugal all the way for me, hands down. Faster side, great strikers, the silly lil flash Ronaldo, and Deco!!

    Tonights lineup:

Portugal: Ricardo, Nuno Valente, Ricardo Carvalho, Meira, Miguel, Maniche, Deco, Costinha, Figo, Pauleta, Ronaldo.

Holland: Van der Sar, Van Bronckhorst, Mathijsen, Ooijer, Boulahrouz, Cocu, Sneijder, Van Bommel, Robben, Kuyt, Van Persie.

Should be a great game, 3-2 to Portugal.

    Anda rapazes!!

ITV are extremely lucky the Canadian Grand Prix finished on time - not quite sure what they would have done if it had run late.

I remember STV joining a live football match 20 minutes late because of a grand prix - can't see the network doing that with such an important match though, so it would probably have been shunted to ITV4.

Anyhoo - the game itself - I can't see past the Netherlands for this one. And either are beatable by England if they up their game, which I think they are capable of. It's been quite a kind draw so far.

I know what this programme will start with...

And the Budweiser people still make more sense than Motson.

Presumably as the World Cup is a protected event, they would have had to have cut to the football. The F1 was being simulcast on ITV4 anyway.

I think we'll go out to whoever wins this anyway, but I think it'll be a brilliant game to watch. Any of the three results are possible - I'm going to go for a Dutch victory, 3-2 after extra time.

Good old ITV - always incapable of talking about the game in hand.

Cheers ITV - nice tea-time viewing there.

Wonder if they'll get complaints about that.

They did just say the presentation etc. would be on ITV4 so I suppose they might have and I think they've actually gone to the match a few mins early
I have a gut feeling that Portugal will win this - not sure why although Holland are always that one step away from self destruction

P.S. I'm not going to say anything about 'you know who' in the next round until we know which of the two is playing them ;)

    Oh hell - I didn't know that.

The player have one star on their shirt for each time their country have won the World Cup.

ITV 1 vs My football knowledge 0.

    How embarrassing is that?

I'm surprised Van Persie manages to get in this side, he hardly plays for Arsenal.

That Holland shirt is very retro, reminds me too much of the Peruvian top of 1978...still have nightmares about that one!

I dont know who writes the live bbc internet text but its usually surpringly amusing (by bbc standards)...

"The young mascots bring out the Fifa Fair Play flag....The lead mascot boy has a pop at the lead mascot girl for being too slow".
