My chioces after many high profile players have failed so far this year
Grahme Dott (2006 Snooker CHampion)
Phil Taylor (He is darts)
Brooks MIlson (Gretna owner for taking the club to the Scottish Cup final)
Scotland's Under 19's team from Saturday losing to Poland
David Walliams (fo swimming the English channel)
Javine Hylton (For being a record breaker in The Games)
Jade Jones (Men's winner in the games)
Pete and Chantelle (Big Brother winners)
Jennie Facloner (Winner of Only Fools on Horses)
Connor Travers (Youngest Countdown winner)
I don't suppose game shows and reality shows count?
But there's still the European athletics championship, The Ryder Cup and the US Open tennis to come.

Most likely, it'll be Steven Gerrard for his FA Cup match-saving performance barring any recent or major British sportsperson achieving something significant in the next few months.
I don't think the BBC will allow David Walliams on the ballot.
thje scotland u19 team lost to spain IN poland
I dont think Countdown is a sport to be honest.
So well that you've already forgotten his surname?
I think David Walliams is a strong bet. Unconventional, but what he did really captured the public's imagination.
The rest of Britain's sporting acheivement in the past year amounts to basically nothing.
...and go to the bookies BEFORE the Ryder Cup.
Well, It's presented by a former sports presenter and a former Sports perosonality of the year show as well and sports are games and it's all about winning.
Here's a link to watch old shows from 1958-1990

He is the greatest dart thrower of all time yet has never had a sniff.........
I used to love the sports review but ever since the BBC lost the rights to all the big sports it has lost it's magic..........
Walliams done well but he is a camp comic not a sports star......
Winners will be:-
Personality of the year:-
Team of the year:-
Overseas personality:-
Oh yes they're all blank.............
It's because I no longer care..........
If David Walliams wins it, it'll be politics nothing else. A BBC employee wins the award. What a disgrace it would be, he shouldn't even be at the awards ceremony. He is not a sportsman, he's an actor doing something for charity. It will truely prove how low the BBC's coverage has fallen.
I'm listing who I think should/sadly will win:-
Personality - Phil Taylor/David Walliams
Team - Wigan Athletic/Chelsea (or Europe if they win the Ryder Cup...as normal)
Overseas - Roger Federer/Jose bloody Moruinho
EDIT: and the person who suggested that Reality TV winners of fixed (and terrible) shows, has no idea about sport. Really no idea.
Hopefully the BBC and the public will see sense and nominate 'real' sportstars.
Even as a West Ham fan, I would think that Gerrard should win for his performance in the Cup Final. I can't think of any more outstanding performances this year in sport, unless someone else can think of one.
Overseas award: Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Zidance Zidane, the dutch guy who won the BDO World Darts championship Jelle somebody was his name.
Coach of the Year: Scotland u19's manager, Jose Moruinho, Gordon Strachan, Gretna manager,
Helen Rollason Award: Pete from Big Brother as he has Tourette's Syndrome
Young Sports Perosonality of the Year: Connor Travers (Countdown winner)
and the main award
Pete, Nikki, Glyn, Preston, Michael Barrymore and Chantelle (Big Brother)
Bianca Gasgoine (Love Island)
Javine Hylton (The Games)
David Walliams
Phil Talyor
Graham Dott
David Carry (aberdeen swimmer)
It's true, Kirsty Howard won the 2004 Helen Rollason award
I hope that makes things clear for the people who are having a hard time seeing the difference.
"countdown" and "big brother" are not physical activities, they are game shows.
you cant win sports personality of the year if you dont play sport.
If he was on the shortlist, I imagine the public would vote for him because he has established himself as something of a cult figure. The bookies have shortened his odds after his fine bowling performance against Pakistan.
