A graphic sex scene on BBC soap EastEnders has drew 32 complaints from viewers. Kate Harwood has had to defend her discison to show it over on teletext page 131!

I think this is stupid. It was hardly that graphic and why on earth would people complain? none of the soaps are kids shows.

    It was quite graphic.
Intense kissing. Taking off her bra and producing a condom.

Ah yes, I looked a minute ago and it was something about wife swap. I can see it now though. Thanks.

I think it's going to be edited out of the Sunday omnibus after this.

I hate it when when a handful of prudes complain, yet the MILLIONS of others who saw it didn't,and a scene gets cut on the word of a few numpties:mad:

    The Teletext report says:

EastEnders bosses have apologised to viewers after a steamy scene involving characters Jake Moon and Carly Wicks prompted a string of complains.

The pair were shown in a passionate clinch in nightclub Scarlet's in an episode broadcast on August 1.

Kate Harwood, Executive Producer of EastEnders, said: "Obviously, we are sorry that any of our viewers were upset by the scenes."

Has anyone here acually phoned up and complained about something?
I'd get embarassed sitting having a rant about something.

I don't think it was that bad.
Maybe the channels should use little symbols in the opening credits of episodes that are going to contain scenes like this.

    Hello. :D

    Ah, I see.

Well the fact is, these 32 complaints were most probably from an assortment of Marjories and Doreens, still residing in the time when the most raunchy thing that occurred in soaps was the odd peck on the cheek.

Soaps are full of all sorts of disaster and debauchery. Everytime something remotely controversial happens, you'll always get your collection of revolted pensioners and fussy mothers complaining. I do have a little sympathy for the revolted pensioners, I mean, in their day things were different and they are perfectly entitled to a view which reflects their own era, not to say that all elderly people should have this view. I know some 80-year-olds who don't act a day over 40. We're all entitled to an opinion. :)

However, to the fussy mothers who complained because 'I was watching Eastenders today with my 6-year-old Tristan and to my disgust, he was crudely provoked with a zoom on two men kissing', one can only say that children below a certain age shouldn't be watching soaps anyway.

To be frank, I'd far rather my child got an eyeful of the milkman having a liplock with one of the local builders than the aftermath of some horrific explosion with bloodied, screaming people everywhere.

You're always going to have tedious farts who complain about gay kisses and removal of underclothing, but to be honest, that's their problem.

Soaps are supposed to be realistic. Isn't it better to remind younger people about safe sex with the odd condom? And as for removal of clothing, surely these old biddies don't expect the girl to have sex with her knickers on?

32 complaints is hardly a 'string of complaints', it doesn't even make up 1% of how many people watched the programme. Pathetic

It doesn't mention a figure on Teletext so I don't know where that figure has come from.

I was just quoting what the OP said, I assumed they must have got the figure from somewhere.

I don`t really see much wrong with it myself. I reckon the complaints were probably from mums who`s young kids had been watching but really it is the mums fault for letting their young kids watch it in the first place!!

Cosidering there's going to be an story line concerning someone obviously not having safe sex, Eastenders should be praised for showing an instance of safe sex

Wonder how many of these 'complainers' complained when Grant took down jane's knickers?? (I'm guessing Ian would be one)
