Ch50 from Winter Hill

Hmm...downloaded the latest firmware to my Toppy last night and, whilst rescanning the channels, came across channel 50. This was showing 99% for both signal strength and quality, yet there was no channels being detected.

Any ideas what this frequency is being used for? AFAIK, it isn't one the the normal Winter Hill mux channels.

You are right, there's no Multiplex on UHF 50 from Winter Hill.

I can't find any nearby transmitters using that channel.

DTT Multiplex C is broadcast on CH.50 from Emley Moor. My uncle used to pick a grainy Emley moor analogue up from his house on high ground, near St. Helens.

Unlikely you'd ever get a 99% DTT signal from that Tx, in the Northwest region though, so maybe CH.50 is testing from Winter Hill? I might have a look on my Box this evening, see if I can find anything on Ch. 50.

Just completed a scan and it's still showing very strong but no channels???

Wonder if its anything to do with the recent work at Winter Hill.

    Are people getting confused here?

Does this person mean UHF 50 or does he mean like channel 5 as in 1 is bbc1 etc etc?

I think they may mean if you type channel 50 on your remote you get thes test channel not uhf 50 which is obviously something completely different!

The UHF channel is 50. I've just scanned it in on my box.

The LCN is 506, channel name is "Service e040". Provider is unknown.

    Technical details:-
    Frequency:- 705997 KHz
    TxMode:- 2K
    Guard Interval 1/32
    Modulation:- QAM16
    FEC:- 1/2

It's now appearing as "Test Channel 6" on the OSD.

Also can see "Test Channel NGW" on the screen, when I try to get the technical details.

I wonder if Imax finally sorted their compression technique out ...would be great if they finaly got it to work on all boxs ...
    :p  :D

The transmission appears to be a recording (18th April 2006) of a transport stream played in a loop.

The TDT in the transport stream shows 2006/04/18 12:02:08 at the earliest.
When the time reaches 2006/04/18 12:10:32 it jumps back to 2006/04/18 12:02:08
