And that probably means Fletch & Macca on the Champions League Final for the 8th year in a row.

Also, 15 years we had Jim Beglin and Andy Townsend as co-commentators on ITV's Champions League, even the latter was bearable compared to Macca.

    Absolutely diabolical commentary.

This is a new low, even by TNT standards.

Fletch word vomiting, McManaman screeching and Ferdinand acting like a fan.

Sorry to say but that goal call could have been worse if Ferdinand didn't left the commentary box early. I know it's minimal standards but....

Just unbearable to listen to McManaman, and I’m a Scouser myself!

I’m feeling nostalgic for the Michael Owen and Mark Halsey days at this point.

Wouldn't surprise me if these three get wheeled out as the commentary team on the Final.

I know we've complained about ITV's football coverage in the past, but at least they make some changes (for better or worse) once in a while.

For example, after that Liverpool CL game where Clive and Andy lost the plot and went into Fanzone mode, they demoted Townsend and got rid of Chiles whereas TNT don't seem to care how bad the coverage is.

Wtf are they all going on about?

I am convinced not even they know what they are going on about…pathetic excuse this is tonight of a so called 3 man commentary team, this should all be their last stint in the commentary box tonight.

What's particularly odd is that McManaman has all but disappeared from their PL coverage and is fairly low profile in the early rounds of this competition, yet at the business end of it he's front and centre.

Don’t worry - we’ll probably have to put up with these three again in a months time instead.

But no doubt if you ask some online Lucy Ward is somehow the main problem with football coverage.

McManaman should have been sacked for his 'different nations' remark on last season's Europa League Final.

It wouldn't surprise me if TNT put together a 4 man commentary team of Fletch, Macca, Rio and Sav for the Final.

Quite. Fingers crossed it’s just a contractual hangover from BT and next year with the new TV deal it’ll stop, because it makes no sense whatsoever.

That was really poor, just complete chaos whether it was Rio’s contributions or Macca shouting.
Also I counted 7 mentions of “Champions League” after the final whistle by Fletch alone (and even 1 “in this competition”)

The good news is come the Euro's, Fletcher and McManaman will not be heard on the on BBC or ITV (although we will unfortunately have Rio's wisdom to look forward to on the BBC).

You watch ITV will probably sign them up now as a second choice commentary pairing. Even though am only joking don’t forget Fletcher does do sport coverage for ITV so it is always possible especially since Clive looks likely to leave soon and Jon Champion seems to prefer living in the US so it could very easily happen.

He'll be confined to the studio though, he's bearable there.

The studio analysis is, as is often the case with TNT, very good indeed.

Only by comparison to his commentating stints. It’d still be much better for all concerned if they left him at home.

After that commentary, Hargreaves is such a breath of fresh air in the studio.
Not that he could’ve saved whatever that commentary was but at least if he’d been third man rather than Ferdinand it might’ve taken less time for my brains cells to rot away.
Though Ferdinand’s dire contributions were then eclipsed by McManaman going full foghorn.

LOL at them then going from the studio to Laura & Rio to discuss what’s already been discussed but poorer.
Rio by a mile is the worst number 1 pundit around.

Think some of the TNT regulars have got too comfortable in their roles as demonstrated tonight.

Also, if you look at other channels:

    - Shearer improved massively since becoming number 1 pundit for the BBC.
    - Matterface improved since becoming number 1 commentator for ITV (although probably not to the standard of main commentator quite yet)

Whereas, Fletcher has got worse since becoming number 1 commentator for BT/TNT in 2015 and Ferdinand now reaching the point of being a clown since becoming BT/TNT's number 1 pundit.

I would suggest demoting might make some of the individuals you’re hinting at might lead them to improve - but then again it hasn’t done McManaman any good if tonight was any indication.

We have heard it said before that broadcasters want to make their coverage watchable for viewers first and foremost which makes me wonder who the commentary tonight was supposed to be appealing to
