75% of Cable Modem will be put on at this time, but there are some areas where further upgrades are required and might not be active for several weeks after this date
i dont believe that stb speed increases will occur till october
Can someone please give me the address or a link the that website that does a check of your internet speeds and that, and gives you the details please?
For Bromley platform (ex Cable and Wireless) users connected via set top box. This platform is already capable of the increased speeds although the Pace boxes will have to be swapped for a Samsung for the 1.5 meg service as the Pace box can't support the higher speed reliably. Letters should have been sent out/are being sent out to advise those customers
150k customers have been receiving faster than 150k through the stb and probably won't notice much difference to download speeds.
600k customers probably won't need a box swap
There again, I'm a customer of NTL not an employee, so this might not be correct.
more information about where will be upgraded on what date will be available from broadband medic and technical support after the weekend i believe. So hopefully this information will be made publically available from Monday
Hey jrhnewark, i hope you enjoy your visit.... theres plenty to see...i think lol

I'm sorry I don't buy that the PACE box is not capable enough. Where did you hear this from? Cable Modems can probably manage 30M/bs+ so why can the STB's not support above 1M/bs?
You can check if you have been upgraded quite simply.
Open your web browser at 192.168.100.1
login using root for the username and password
select Operation Configuration
In the box to the right it will tell you your max connection speed
For example, mine at the moment is:
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 600000 bps
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 128000 bps
This doesn't work for STB's, and doesn't work for all SACM's.
See here:-
STB user's aren't gonna get the 1mb to 1.5mb upgrade until they get the new silver Samsung STB's... So probabley all the cable modem users are going to get the upgrade first.
"Do I have to pay Internet call charges with Broadband Internet?
No. There are no call charges with ntl Broadband Internet. All you pay is
your monthly charge of **£8.99 for 150K, **£12.49 for 600K or **£18.99
for 1Mb Broadband Internet.
To incorporate an Xbox compatible connection to your service the cost is
slightly higher per month."
Hello?! £18.99 for 1mb?!?! Oh NTL, can you get anything right?!
Not sure where ppolo99 got that link from, but it looks like its being prepared and just up for testing purposes...
If the text they've got in there now is to be believed once I'm upgraded to 300k I'll be able to check the weather, book cinema tickets and buy a CD....

P.S. I used to live in Swansea (11years), visiting in a couple of weeks!

When I click on "When will I be upgraded?", I get a load of HTML gobbledegook.
Also if the 600k service is "still only £17.99", then I demand a refund!
