I've only heard bits of some songs so far (takes too long to download on my ancient computer), but the lyrics I love best at the mo are "Lorraine" from the Bulgarian entry.
"Lorraine, in the rain".
Someone's splashed out on a rhyming dictionary, methinks.
I wanted a scorecard because I'll be hosting a Eurovision party which will have attendees from all over Europe. (They won't be flying in specially, my parties aren't that legendary. Yet). I did the same last year, and we had a hilarious night, aside from the fisticuffs between Serbia & Montenegro and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, but let's gloss over that.
the reason i start the threads in January is so that users can discuss the build up of eurovision from the making your mind up show to the semi final and the main show. its much better than having loads of threads where users would have to search all the time!
I'm thinking that Bosnia is going to win. Thinking back to 1992, Italy won it with a song celebrating the unification of Europe, imaginatively called 1992.
I think with this year being the 50th celebration, a song which celebrates this event has a head start, especially with the lyrics "50 candles on the 40 cakes", and on top of that it is fun too!
How is that better than having to leaf through pages and pages of old stuff to get to the stuff on the contest? Separate ones for selection shows, build up and the contest would be a better idea.
Anyways, back on topic. I thought the betting was usually wrong because they forget to think about political voting, what were last year's odds anyone??
I know! FA Cup and Eurovision, perfect Saturday. That doesn't happend often, does it?
On the commentary thing, I think you both may be in luck. I heard (not sure if its 100% valid) that BBCi will allow you to listen to Terry, Ken or no commentary, similar to their 6 Nationals coverage, though like I said, not confirmed.
The download is only for the Semi-Final scorecard at the moment, as the page does state: "Come back after midday on Friday 20th May to download the scorecard for the Eurovision Final."
That's because the final & full running order isn't finalised as it's not yet known which entries from the semi-final on Thursday night will make it through to the final on Saturday night.
quite a few sites doing polls
greece, iceland and hungary
are the most popular songs
however i think the over35s
(who do most of the voting)
will go for a ballad this year
there are several good songs in the semi finals
does anyone think juries/televoting in countries
already in the final will deliberately vote for those
countries that pose a lesser threat to their songs?
it's possible, imo there will be many shock finalists
javine looked good (very brief clip)
liking monaco more and more..
stunning looks, stunning voice
and of course a stunning song
can't believe she is 100-1!
she worth a £1.00 each way bet
Look, your thread being started months ago is precisely the reason this one was set up, now leave it alone!
Back to the real reason this was set-up, in reply to the comment about being second in the running order. yes its a placing where no-one has ever won before, but did we really think we'd win anyway??? Besides, lat time we were out second was in 2002, and we came 3rd (not bad!).
i listened to all the songs but can only remember a few lol. i liked the greece, iceland and croatia songs. i think we have a chance of getting reasonably high - but not winning.
Back to the commentary options thing, I've just found out that from bbc.co.uk/eurovision there will be the usual karaoke feed, but no mention of commentary feeds!
Comments
your right of course i'll stick with your thread athena

Bosnia to win...
For me it will be - I'll be watching it while listening to Radio 2 & Ken Bruce, as I have done for the last 15 contests.
The FA Cup Final AND Eurovision on the same day - now THAT'S my perfect Saturday.
