Be prepared for plenty of Derren Brown's brand of magic and mind-games in a specially made recording of a live show shot in a mystery location in front of an invited audience which includes cab drivers, famous faces, psychics, magicians and psychologists.
This one hour fusion of magic, suggestion, psychology and misdirection will give the cynics among you the chance to decide - is he a fraud or should he be burnt at the stake?
Famous faces randomly selected to take part include: broadcaster Krishnan Guru Murthy, The League of Gentlemen's Reece Shearsmith & top chef Jean Christophe Novelli. Other celebrities in the audience include Jonathan Ross, Simon Pegg, Al Murray and Sarah Alexander.
Derren comments: "I've always loved performing live and of course it gives people a chance to see that everything's fair. It's not something I've done on TV before, although it is a taste of what I do on tour. Hopefully it will be a very memorable evening for all concerned".
This looks great - but i'm worried it'll be stuff straight from his live show - as i'm going to see him next week!! Hope its different... maybe i'll wait to watch it till after i've seen him live!

Very
The question kinda answers itself. How can he be a fraud when he DOES NOT claim to have any "mystical powers" and clearly states that it is done with: "magic, suggestion, psychology and misdirection"
That's what he does and that's what you see and get - What is fraudulent about that?
I see this a lot lately said about magicians "Are they really doing that" Or "They are fake" as opposed to what? They ARE magicians doing what magicians have been doing for years: Performing the "Illusion" of something happening when in facy it isn't for entertainment perposes.
Way too many people are getting hooked up on this fake mediums nonsense and dragging magicians and stage mentalists into the same thing. They are not the same as they make no claim as to having mystical powers.
A magician or stage mentalist or stage hypnotist or anyone who uses these methods is a very good form of entertainment and you pay your money and get what you pay for.
All fraudulent mediums/spiritualist (that's all of them as there is no such thing as a real one) who use the same methods as the above, but claim that they have mystical powers, are bloody big frauds and should be shot!
But please do not (anyone) confuse what Derren Brown does with these other frauds.
Absolutely right. At no time has Brown ever claimed he has psychic ability. In fact he claims to not even believe psychic ability is possible. On a totally different subject, Derek Acorah is doing the rounds at the moment round the country. I'd love it if on one night you had Acorah appearing followed the next night by Derren Brown. Thinking about it, I wonder how many people who would defend Acorah, would then denounce Brown as a fraud?
Think I'll go back and try to concentrate abit more
Both times the subliminal message has been onscreen, it's been "FORGET"
I wanna know why I couldn't read the Forget but everyone else could!
It was FORGET.
*edit* forget that, it's gone, i'm talking rubbish!
you won't have any trouble forgetting it then...
You know, I'd have to agree slightly. Because he's doing his tricks to the audience and not the camrea, it makes me feel as if I'm not as part of the show as I do with his "Trick of the Mind" shows.
Having said that though, I'm still amazing at what he does. I'm curious to see what this subliminal "FORGET" is all about though. I count four instances of it up to now.
Edit: Oh yeah it was the country/shapes thing. Oh well I did pick Afghanistan tho, which was almost Africa but not quite
Very first trick he did was with the woman in the audience. He asked her to name a country (Africa) and pick a shape (Triangle)
I'd like to note that I also thought the woman would pick the triangle after she named Africa.
Yep me too. Also she picked Africa because of the colours of the shapes which were already on show. Yellow, Red and Green - the colours of Africa, seen most commonly on pendants etc.
Quite good reasoning, yes.
