Sony BMG admitted to "Music Week" this week that "That's My Goal" has been hanging aroung the Sony/BMG offices for a while;
"It's a song we've had for quite a while and it's a great pop song that stands up on its own merits," says Sony BMG imprint Syco's vice president Sonny Takhar, who is confident the record can make it to the top spot, but acknowledges nothing can be taken for granted".
But is the world aware that this was a song that none other than Westlife rejected for a soundtrack to the Special Olympics in Ireland 2003 for sounding "too wet" !!???

So basically you are saying that "That's My Goal" didn't suit Westlife?
But then nor did "You Raise Me Up" !
The day Westlife become the benchmark of all that is good, I'll become Prime Minister!
i'd vote for you if you banned westlife
and shayne
It really is a terrible, formulaic, papmuzak-by-numbers song.
J
It's a truly dire song.
The winner surely deserved better.
Hope this is not a sign of things to come for Shayne.
People are so easily pleased.
Indeed.
It's certainly not as good as "All this time" which did no favours for Michelle McManus.
If Shayne is to have any chance at a career he's going to have to be more like Justin and Lemar - i.e more urban.
At the moment this song makes him look more like Aled Jones.
Their first couple of songs were half decent which no doubt helped them become popular in the first place.
They don't need to try now do they? Their fans will always see them through
That's funny - On finals night I thought I heard that as well but just dismissed it as my hearing.
We'll have to give it another listen I think!
I really is crap!
It's a good way to knobble the winning act before they start ain't it!
I have been straining my ears to hear what the line is and it does sound like follow through.
The words are "I've finally thought it through".
It's not a dire song, it's just that Simon, Louis, Ashley and others hyped it as so wonderful and the finalists were so forced to keep any details of it under wraps that makes it so disappointing.
Thanks for clearing that up. I think I prefer my version though

Exactly. Westlife sing what they are told and can only do one sort of music - crap
