Exactly. It is probably one of the campest shows on TV; certainly the campest in a pre-watershed time slot.
To read some of of the comments about Layton here you’d think he was taking part in that SAS show or something, not a show where Craig routinely does drag and Bruno was falling off his chair making double entendres for years on end. It’s bizarre*.
*not really because we all know why they’re objecting to him deep down.
I saw a comment on Twitter about their dance by someone saying about how "its a teatime show, we don't want it being raunchy", I think my response was '19 years too late to be complaining about that'
Not sure how many people watch Strictly to watch crotch thrusting and pole dancing. I certainly don't, and I'd be surprised if many people did. I also don't appreciate cartwheels and handstands and backflips or any variations of, they should be in a gymnastic competition, not dance. In fact perhaps the BBC should think about a crotch thrusting, back flipping, cartwheeling, programme; I'm sure millions would watch it.
The ‘crotch thrusting and pole dancing’ is the second most popular dance across Instagram, youtube and the most popular on TikTok so clearly quite a lot of people do want to watch them
I wanna see more pole dancing not less especially if Nikita is involved!

I didn’t like the CC at all - I really don’t like wafty dancing.
Also the first dance of Ellie’s I really didn’t like any of it - was a bit odd to me
Loved annabel & Jo Jo & Nigel and Katya though I think they may be the dance of couples sadly.
Going to bed soon I think, it’s been a bit of a day. How is everyone else?
Sorry to hear that @Gin&frolick , hope it gets better for you.
I hate to be a party pooper, but why tonight is it the first time that Bobby has really spoken in depth about his Mum. I read recently that he quite often says when asked of her he'll say that he can't really remember her that much as he was so young when she died. But tonight he's saying he can remember when he first thought about her being a star as they showed a picture of them at a book signing. I can get it if he'd had said it earlier, but no he waits until tonight. I'm just confused.
Mr C’s mum died when he was the same age as Bobby was when Jade passed.
In my experience from watching him and knowing him as well as you can know another human being (Mr C that is, not Bobby!!), there is a particular kind of grief that comes with losing a parent when you’re so young. It is difficult to remember them fully — memories are usually abstract or not fully formed — and your feelings are often an odd mix of your mum feeling like a stranger you didn’t know but also having this huge hole in your heart because you missed out on such a fundamental experience.
I lost my dad not that long ago, but I’m well into adulthood, and it’s something Mr C and I often discuss — how both the grief and emotion and the expectations people have of your feelings are just entirely different in both circumstances.
All of this is a long rambling way of saying I think Bobby saying he doesn’t remember his mum much is his way of telling people politely that he can’t or doesn’t want to discuss it in detail, and especially in his case, it must be very painful for him to know that SO many people have memories and opinions of his mother and he can barely remember her.
I wasn’t massively keen on his dance tonight but I thought the VT was a wonderful tribute for a young man who lost his mother at a very young age and probably is still very confused about that. It’s not an easy situation to be in and I hope anyone on DS who lost a parent at such a young age understands what I’m trying to say here.

I think people are a bit revisionist about Jade. She wasn’t a saint. She went through stages of dislike and like, then turned into a bit of a racist. But to die so young is sad.
I always hate sob stories on reality tv though. It’s so so manipulative and there’s no way that dance deserved tens im afraid.
She was really far from a saint but he was a child and frankly I don't blame him for using this platform to do a tribute. The sins of the mother shouldn't be visited on the son.

She is just the same as when she was in BB years ago, so not fake

Jeez this VT is really scraping the barrel even by reality tv standards. At least Annabel's was tasteful and classy.

Singing was awful but his rhumba was so good
I didn’t know there was a cult 😂 In that case I’m a fully paid up member. I really enjoyed his rumba.

No one dares tell the truth - if Jade had lived, Bobby would have continued a childhood being dragged through photoshoots (as he was for the first four years of his life) and mockumentaries, with an appalling step father who is in and out of custody.
I think most people recognise Jade had her flaws whilst also recognising the situation is very tragic - the two can co-exist.

Re: Starting to think NCUTI is entirely wrong for the role...
EVERYONE, INCLUDING THE PRESS, is under an embargo about what they can say about the show.
By contract he CAN'T talk about being the Doctor, until Management says otherwise.
Having said that, he said some very humble and excited comments about getting the part after he was announced, so maybe you ought to weigh those comments in your premature judgement.

I had to say I rolled my eyes pulling the sympathy story, maybe I'm made of stone, but it really feels overdone
Not sure how I feel about it. It's very sad Jade died so young, but I still have mixed feelings towards her.
Maybe a tribute to his dad for bringing him up etc would have been a possibility instead?
