Sagem ITD60 Channel Rescans getting worse
Hi All,
Over the past few weeks, my ITD60 has started to "detect new channels on the flow" almost daily. The other night, I changed to ITV1 (3) and again it wanted to rescan. It did so and then 2 minutes later it wanted to do it again. Fortunately it seems to be back to it's "normal" rescan every 1-2 days again, but it's still a right pain! It seems to come in waves where for a few weeks it's very frustrating and then it settles down.
I know others had mentioned this with the older ITD602 unit, but has anyone found any tricks to stop this with the newer ITD60, or has anyone had any feedback from Sagem about this issue? I'm wondering if a replacement unit would even solve the problem? Strikes me as a major software bug, but Sagem don't seem to provide OTA updates here (at least I've never seen a single one on the download schedule).
Any ideas would be most welcomed!
Cheers,
Graham

I had it with my 602 before it died...

Shame really, as it is a pretty good box otherwise.
I agree too that it's a big shame these boxes have this issue, because I quite like my ITD60. It seems very stable apart from this stupid rescan glitch. Apart from that, the box behaves very well most of the time.
I believe it does also affect the 62 and 64; this (http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=150975) thread is about the 602 rescanning problem really, but users have reported the ITD6x range doing this too. There is also a temporany solution there that worked for a while for me, but switching the box off and on tends to make it rescan on startup.
This problem is quite bad, especially when two seconds after you have allowed it to scan it wants to scan again!

But I do have good signal strength on it...

I do like the graphics on it - especially the "radio" with the working volume control...
Could you possibly let me know if your box also picks up any 'radio' stations whilst doing the rescan, rather than just listing them in the TV stations as normally. Also is there any pattern to the scan happening at certain times ie. changing to one particular channel?
Many thanks for any feedback you can provide.
Best regards,
Stuart Wright

It's great to see that Sagem are keeping an eye on the forums and thanks for taking an interest in our issues with the rescans! On a previous occasion, I do recall my ITD60 finding a "radio" station during a rescan, which I thought was unusual at the time, however subsequent rescans are now back to the norm of all stations being identified as TV stations.
The last bad occurance I had of this "new channels" rescan issue seemed to be triggered by changing to ITV (Channel 3) so I'll keep an eye on it and see if this trend continues.
Thanks for keeping us posted!
Regards,
Graham
EDIT: I meant to add too that this is our chance at getting this issue knocked on the head once and for all, so let's all try and help Stuart by supplying as much information as we can about when and under what circumstances these rescans are occuring. I'm going to try and compile a "log" of rescans on my own box over the coming week or two. Thanks guys!

Last night I thought I was going to be unable to watch TV at all thanks to this frustrating problem! At approximately 6:45pm, I switched the unit on and changed from BBC1 to ITV3 (Channel 34). I got a prompt of new channels being detected on the flow. Of course there is no option but to say yes to the autotune. I did so and as soon as it had finished, up it came again! Typically, after the rescan, it would prompt to save the channel list (which I did) and then it would return to the channel for about 5 seconds and then the cycle would repeat! Finally after 7, yes that's right 7 rescans, it seemed to return to normal. Every time it did a rescan, it found 78 TV channels and no radio stations.
Has anyone else been seeing problems again lately? I just wish there was an option *not* to do the rescan. I tried to cancel it, but that ends up putting the unit into a state where you eventually just have to turn the thing off to get out of it (and of course the autotune jumps into action on the next power on). I'm going to e-mail Stuart with the details too and again I would encorage others to do likewise.
Cheers,
Graham
This is on the Sagem site........
Everytime I change the channels, on the screen it says " New Channel Found on the flow". At that point the box tunes again but soon as it is finished , it starts again and this will go on repeatedly.
How can I stop this?
"Firstly, enter the auto tune by pressing OK.Allow the tune to reach about 30%-40% and then press exit. If the box asks you to save the new channel list, press "NO". This process will stop the message appearing again.
If you see a message asking for "Your Network Name", unplug the unit from power, plug it back in and repeat the process a second time"
Thanks for bringing this to my attention John.
I have to say, I find it quite disturbing that Sagem have stuck this on their website rather than fix the underlying problem!! Clearly there is a firmware bug in this unit. Is this the best we can expect from Sagem?
I dearly hope this is not a long term work-around (I definitely would not call it a "fix") for this problem!
EDIT:
I should add too that I have since been in contact with Stuart from Sagem (see his post above) and it would seem work is underway for a firmware update fix to this issue, which is good news.
Have now got new technol. Philips DTR500. However this also has problems! Ocassional lock up on sw on and losing listed channels.
